3: What YOU'VE Learned

While research is the act of looking again, the act of asking questions and seeking answers--research relies upon what we know. The key is that we begin with knowledge. Who we are and what we know drives what we choose to research and how we research it. In the style of Monet's poem, what do you know? Please post your poem when you have completed it. Be prepared to respond to 2 peers poems with warm feedback and questions by Tuesday, September3 before the start of class.

  1. I know that time heals all wounds
I know that sometimes pain feels better than nothing at all
I know that emotions can be both a power and a weakness
I know that we all have had golden dreams with glitter reality
I know that sometimes the right thing to do for someone else is not the best thing for you
I know that religious views has caused turmoil all across the land
I know we have all fallen and wondered if we would ever get back up
I know that at one point or another we all will lose our way
I know we have watched someone suffer but stood by and watched
I know that we all fear the unknown
I know that once we are gone from this earth there is another life
I know that we are all human and made mistakes

    1. I like your line where you said "I know we have watched someone suffer but stood by and watched"
I can relate because I somewhat feel this way when I'm in a situation where my friend is hurt and it sometimes leaves me speechless, and I feel as though because I have know words of encouragement I'm basically useless and I'm letting them suffer.

  2. I know that this year will be challenged.
I know that this year we will be questioned.
...Questioned in ways never thought possible.
I know this year we will graduate.
...Graduating after 4 years of insane obstacles.
I know within a year I will leave off.
...Leaving off to college without looking back.
I know I have been prepared to succeed.
...Prepared like none others for a college life.
I know that this is not normal for our community.
...A community who RARELY have high school graduates.
I know what I am capable of.
...Capable of being tested on my strengths.
I know my strengths and weaknesses.
...The strengths I have, help keep me standing tall.
I know I will walk across the stage with the cap & gown.
...In May I will be wearing that purple cap & gown.
I know I will be able to say "I survived".
... I survived all obstacles EPIC has given me.

I know this is just the beginning of the end.
I know it will all start over in August 2014.

    2. I really like this poem because it relate to all the people who would graduate this year. But the line i like the most is "I know within a year I will leave off.
...Leaving off to college without looking back." I relate to this because once you graduate there's no looking back and just look forward.

  3. I know that life can be stressful.
I know that sometimes, it's too much to handle.
I know that you've given up.
I know that sometimes, the drugs is more important than your family.
I know that drugs can be your escape, but what are you really running from?
I know that you get frustrated, and I know that sometimes, you can't do it on your own.
I know what it's like to not have a clear state of mind.
I know that this isn't the life you wanted.
I know that maybe if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be like this.
I know that sometimes, a person can care to much,
When you care too much, that's when everything starts to fail.
I understand that you can't help someone who doesn't want it.
But I also understand that you've lost your sense of guidance.
I know that, tomorrow is never promised.

    4. I liked your poem. Always remember you aren't the only person going through this but its good that you keep on going with your life and don't dwell on things you cant change.

  4. I know that things get hard in life
I know we feel as if we can't survive
I know we give up because we feel there is not point if we actually try
I know at times we feel as though all hope is lost
I know we all want that helping hand to come and lift all of our problems away
I know we all have problems trusting others
I know we all look for that special thing in that special someone
I know we all wish we were something we're not
I know we all get mad
I know we all get sad
I know we are all afraid die
I know we all want to be happy, but we cry
I know that some of us keep our feelings inside
I know we've all been hurt before
    I know we've all apologized
I know we all want to be forgiven
I know we all have motivations
I know that is why we are driven

  6. I know that everyone has story.
I know that a smile often indicates a ruff past.
I know that families are torn apart everyday.
I know that children grow up thinking it's their fault.
I know that alcohol can take over your life.
I know that things aren't always what they seem.
I know that things can get better.
I know that sometimes you must forgive to move on.
I know that mistakes are meant to be made.
I know that things happen for a reason.
I know that time should be used wisely.
I know that you can be a stranger to the people who gave life to you.
And I know that in the end we all pretend and wish to be happy.

    1. The line that stood out the most to me was, "I know that children grow up thinking it's their fault." This stood out to me because, there has been so many times where I've blamed myself for things that was out of my control. I think that children just think that way as they grow because they don't fully understand.

    2. I like the line where you state that I know things can get better because i know it takes time for things to get better each and everyday. why does alcohol have such a affect on people lives.

    3. " I know children grow up thinking it's their fault" this line stands out to me, something happens within the family of someone, and they begin to believe that it is there fault, and that pain begins to hurt deeply.

  7. I know a girl who loves me more than I do
I know a world of people that I've lied to.
I know I'm not the man I'd aspired to become.
I know my parts don't equal my sum.
    I know what they total.
I know that it's more than a mole hill.
I know that my intentions were noble.
I know I'm in control of my soul still,
though I know that it owes bills.
I know what my weaknesses are.
I know that school is just the start.
And I know to make it through life, I would have to work hard

    3. " I know my parts don't equal my sum" this line stands out to me because people have certain qualities that make up who they are, and some of those qualities tend to shine more than others, and it doesn't really show who you are

  8. I know I have a mouth on me, and I still don't use it wisely.
...I don't take advantage of the good, and I speak out of turn.
I know I have fears, yet I tell others I fear none.
...So I often worry and roam alone scared, even though a smile will appear on my face.
I know my grandfather passed, yet people say his spirit is with me.
...But, I want him physically here and it bothers me that he's not.
I know who I love, and who I'm loved by.
...Although I often question ones loyalty and where we lie.
I know I'm cool with most people I meet, but I only trust so many.
...It's now at the point where it's difficult to put trust into family.
I know I have a parents that I see everyday, but speak to once a month.
...I'm very familiar with your face and our relation, but who are you?
I know my passion and what I want to do with my life.
...But, will the world open up and give me my chance if I work for it.
I know you can work hard for years and still not find what you were looking for.
...I pray not to have the same experience.
I know I'm not easily broken, but I'm easily hurt.
    ...Curse sensitivity
    I know I shouldn't say sorry because I'm not a sorry person
...I don't regret my mistakes, but I do however apologize for how one takes things
I know I'm proud to be Kennedi Raevonne Davis Kimmons
...And I couldn't picture myself in anyone else shoes

  9. I know that I live not in the world, but in the shadow of the world. I know that I go through the world the way an insect goes through its entire life in the shadow of a bank.
I know that nothing is simple. Or more, that what’s simple is never truly, never completely.
I know that everything adds up and that every element of this total depends on the whole.
    I know I don't know about love.
I know I'm not not perfect, and I never say i wanted to be perfect in this world because perfect people are the lonely ones.
I know that everything around me is nothing but a mass of contingency.
I know that whoever finds himself loses himself a little.
I know that after death there’s nothing but death.
I know life could be easy and could have obstacles, I just have to keep going and see what obstacle its next.

  10. I Know Growing Without My Father Was Hard For Me As A Child Growing Up In The HOOD.
I KnowThat Also Made Me A Strong Cold Hearted Young Lady.
I Know A Lot Of People Use To Tell Me I Looked For Ma Father Often ; But Now Being Who I Am, I Know I Was Only Looking For Myself In Him.
I Know I Hate My Father For Putting Me Through So Much As A Kid AND I Also Know You Should Always Forgive People For Their Mistakes; But The Only Thing About That Mistake Is That I Will Never Forget.
I Know I Love My Father For Making Me Into The Person That I Am Today.

  20. I know that I will become something, that it takes hard work and dedication to be what you want to be. I know with success comes failure, and that it takes perseverance to come out with your head up. I know that I am determine. I know how hard I have to work to achieve. But I also know their is some things that I wont achieve. I know I will learn,I know I will live, and I know I will die. But what question is if I will lived knowing great things I did or die wanting to do things I could have did. I know their will be struggle and with struggle comes failure. But I know if I continue to try that struggle turns into success. I Know success is what everyone strives for but doesn't put forth effort to achieve that. I know everyone wants glory and fame. But all I know is work hard to become better because their will never be a best.
